According to new allegations from a whistleblower, Ghislaine Maxwell, now completing a 20-year prison term for trafficking offenses, is reportedly preparing a commutation application for consideration by the presidential administration.

Special Treatment Alleged at Correctional Facility

Congressional Democrats on the House judiciary committee announced that a source provided evidence indicating the inmate is working on the commutation application. They also stated she has been given preferential conditions at the federal prison camp in the Lone Star State.

Congressman Jamie Raskin, the top Democrat on the committee, stated in a official statement that the prison’s warden was assisting Maxwell with document preparation and submission to aid her effort for clemency.

Specific details of the “commutation application” remain unknown, Raskin added.

Alleged Privileges and Special Accommodations

The representative claims that, according to the whistleblower, Maxwell has been given specially prepared food that are “personally delivered” to her living area, and the warden has individually organized exclusive visits for her and her visitors.

These meetings reportedly involve a designated private space for attendees and “an assortment of snacks and refreshments” for her associates.

Maxwell’s visitors were also allowed to carry electronic devices, which the congressman characterized as an “unprecedented action” given the potential danger and chance of unsupervised contact.

Reportedly on one occasion, when phone lines went down for other inmates, she was provided directions about instructing her contacts to call and how staff would relay the call to her.

Warden as “Personal Secretary”

The source also allegedly told congressional members that when Maxwell wanted to review and edit documents “quickly”, she “essentially used” the warden as her private aide.

The statement indicates that Maxwell’s correspondents would email documents directly to the warden, who would hand them over to Maxwell, for her to examine and change and return them to the warden to digitize and send to the initial correspondent.

Extra Benefits Alleged

Other privileges allegedly granted to Maxwell include time to “play with” a trainee assistance dog – a perk typically prohibited – as well as private after-hours access to the prison exercise area.

Maxwell’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the insider's allegations.

In a statement, the presidential office said that it “does not comment” on potential clemency requests.

“Per the President's remarks, granting clemency to Ghislaine Maxwell is not something he has thought about,” the spokesperson added.

Recent Background

Recently, reports surfaced that she told friends and family in electronic messages that she was “much happier” at the new prison than her former location.

This past summer, Maxwell was moved from a secure facility in Tallahassee, Florida to the less restrictive prison in the state, where most inmates are serving time for non-violent offenses and white-collar crimes.

The transfer, which experts described as exceptional, occurred just days after she was questioned about the Jeffrey Epstein investigation by the senior justice official, the official, who also once acted as Donald Trump's private attorney.

That interview came as the administration was facing increasing scrutiny to disclose additional files related to the ongoing probe and amid widespread conjecture around the President's own personal ties to the disgraced financier and convicted sex offender, who was found deceased in custody in 2019 while facing trial on trafficking accusations.

Lawmaker Reactions

Through the statement, Raskin also revealed that he had dispatched a communication to Trump, demanding answers about the insider's claims, and urged the president to reject Maxwell’s commutation request.

“You should not grant any form of clemency to this adjudicated and remorseless sex offender,” the representative stated in the letter. “The government must not offer her with personal amenities, with puppies to play with, with federal law enforcement officials waiting on her every need, or with any special treatment or institutional privilege at all.”

Raskin requested that Blanche appear for a open legislative session to address the disclosures and also presented several inquiries to Trump.

Raskin asked whether Trump had talked about a possible clemency for Maxwell with the official or others, whether he had directed Blanche or anyone else to provide her with the transfer or special conditions in detention, and whether she, her attorneys, relatives or representatives have made any commitments to the President or his attorneys.

The representative requested for a response to the inquiries by 24 November.

In October, the US supreme court declined to hear an petition from Maxwell on her trafficking verdict.
