Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely passing of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence residence on Sunday.

A Discovery

A source indicates referencing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. The practitioner then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.

Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. Her roommate who had accompanied her contacted 911. Following this, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

Authorities have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held and is ineligible for bail.

Correcting the Record

The confidential informant questioned several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.

Additionally disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This refutation also extends to reports of alleged "erratic" conduct by Nick at a gathering hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts indicated the state of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for some hours.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, about 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, said his client had not been medically cleared and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
