Series of Incidents

Since the onset of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a string of Russian military personnel have been subjected to assaults within Moscow.

This latest event follows other serious incidents, for instance:

  • General Yaroslav Moskalik was killed in a vehicle explosion in Moscow earlier this year.
  • General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a device hidden on a scooter was detonated remotely.

While a Ukrainian source previously attributed Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such allegations are rarely publicly admitted as a matter of policy.

The conflict has increasingly seen clandestine operations reaching into the center of the Russian capital.

The investigation into General Sarvarov's death remains underway.
