Even though embarking on their maiden continental campaign, Oliver Glasner's side are adapting at a rapid pace. Without star players like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a comfortable result that virtually guarantees them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.
A further victory in their next match against Finland's KuPS should be sufficient to secure straight passage to the last 16, particularly after a prior stumble against Strasbourg.
Squad Members Seize the Opportunity
This match provided a chance for several Palace's lesser-used players to shine. Christantus Uche, making only his second beginning since arriving on loan from Getafe, opened the scoring with a well-taken goal. Forward Eddie Nketiah added a another, scoring for the second consecutive match.
The Shelbourne side that had finished their league season were no match even for a largely second-string Palace outfit. The visitors were already weakened by the news that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with knee injuries.
Control Established from the Outset
Despite torrential rain in Dublin, Palace quickly took control. A slick move in the 11th minute, sparked by Daichi Kamada's incisive pass, allowed Nketiah to set up Uche for a straightforward tap-in.
Midfielder Adam Wharton came close minutes later, fizzing a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah subsequently claimed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the official waved away the protests.

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before calmly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to make it 3-0.
After the break, coach Oliver Glasner seized the opportunity to withdraw several individuals like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring his very first touch, but saw his effort blocked.
Esse was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one attempt strike off both posts before being gathered on the line. Uche then blazed a glaring chance, indicating there is still room for development in his game.
The only concern for Palace was a second-half knock to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This paved the way for 17-year-old forward Benji Casey to earn his first-team debut, capping an otherwise perfect night for the visiting side.
